We are less than a week away from Spring Camp in Berthoud, CO where Chad is going to introduce some of the underlined line items in the updated 2023 version of the curriculum. These are new additions, although some of them may be familiar already. We’ve seen Quartermaster and Piper before, and we all know the basic disarms (strips/ejections/hand snakes) that snuck their way to be explicitly called out in Orange Stripe, but how well do you know your Balangkas, or your Cadena De Mano drills? Come to Spring Camp and get introduced to some of the things that you will eventually have to know for either your test or that of your future students.
There are A LOT of line items in the curriculum, and most of them are fundamental to some things we practice all the time. There are however those pesky little line items that you knew before your test for blue stripe, but you can’t remember the footwork, or whether that double stick drill started in a side closed chamber or a side open. Well, it’s a work in progress, but I’m documenting every line item on a short video where I step through how to do it, and linking it to a digital copy of the curriculum. Having a literal self-guided tour of the entire curriculum will help me review everything I need to know for my Lakan test, which of course is everything, and it will also help me learn to teach it. So, that’s what’s in it for me. What’s in it for you? How about a documented video copy of everything that’s going to be on your test…at any belt level or instructor test? What about an easy-to-read written curriculum when you’re teaching or taking a class that you can access quickly from your phone? How about peace of mind?
I’m making more videos all the time, and would love to be the recipient of enthusiasm to help me, since most of the drills require a partner. I’d be stoked if you made me a video where you step through how to do some of the line items that I haven’t gotten to yet. Mostly though, I’d appreciate you subscribing to the Video Curriculum by clicking the link to the Store and signing up, so you can check it out. The first week is free and then it’s $15/month. Hey, I pay tuition for a live teacher and work hard for the skills I’m sharing, so it’s not unheard of to try to recover some of the cost I put into hosting this website.
Part of my plan is also to make videos available for CDP and Modern Arnis through black belt, since those systems are integrated into Progressive Arnis. Other systems may come later on, and will all be part of the subscription!
